Alkaline Trio 1996年於美國芝加哥組成，
曲風主要為Pop punk與emo，
算是千禧年龐克風潮的重要推手之一，
但相較於當時的blink-182, SUM 41, Simple Plan，
卻並未在國際享有同等的知名度。

相較於當時其他Pop punk團，
Alkaline Trio介於pop punk與emo之間獨樹一格的曲風讓他們很快就受到矚目。
blink-182吉他手Tom更坦承當時受到AT吉他手Matt的影響，
而另外組團Box Car Racer。

有趣的是當2015年Tom再次離開blink-182後，
Mark與Travis邀請了Matt加入，
並發行了兩張專輯。
可惜的是這兩張專輯我覺得並沒有融入Matt獨特的風格，
而其獨特的嗓音因為音域與Mark太過雷同，
反而失去了其魅力。

一直覺得Alkaline Trio的歌詞是非常值得玩味的，
相較其他同類型樂團多以直白的歌詞來搭配暢快的節奏，
AT的歌詞多半帶點憂鬱的氣息，
配上Matt高辨識度的唱腔與嗓音，
讓人印象深刻。

這首歌的靈感來源為2007年的電影"Control"，
該電影為知名後龐克團Joy Division主唱Ian的傳記電影，
Ian於樂團正紅之時，
因個人因素(婚外情、癲癇症)最後在家中廚房上吊自盡，
歌詞結合電影情節試圖描述了Ian的心境。
很喜歡"I believe they deceived your tuneful heart too long"這句，
tuneful heart讚美了Ian的音樂天賦，
卻又用deceived(欺騙)形容樂迷們對Ian的痛苦豪不知情。
