與上次分享的"What Hurts The Most"一樣，
也是一首關於朋友的歌曲。

首先要理解的是歌詞中的dead，
並非指物理性的死亡，
而是指主唱John認為描述的這朋友已經不是當年認識的人了，
據John在訪談中表示，
這首歌關於他某次回到家鄉，
發現一個可以稱為摯友的朋友，
搬回了家鄉並且舊習不改。
而在John小小的交友圈中，
大多數人都把這消失的朋友視為死亡了，
所以當John再看到他時，
除了勾起無數童年美好的回憶，
卻也同時感到恐懼無比。

而這也讓John想起他母親在祖母過世時說的：
如果你現在去看她的遺體，
這將是你最後記住她的模樣，
所以最好緊緊抓住過去的美好時光，
你才能將其永存心底。

歌詞中"How the niddle sting"這句應該是暗指John的好友依舊在施打毒品，
而Blue Eyed Boy是指特別受青睞的人，
多半帶點諷刺的意味，
常被用於形容權力者身邊的跟班、親信，
在這首歌中John應該是形容這位好友對他而言有非常重要的地位，
就像"What Hurts The Most"中所說的
